Guvnor Jersey

On occasion over on the Forum the topic strays over to the possibility of a cycle jersey for us to wear, with the season charging towards like a Grand National Champion with the bit in its teeth I thought I would test the waters.

The above design has kindly been provided by Mrs Adam, this can be tweaked but after conversations with the possible supplier the above is a good working design.

I am aware that several Gentlemen have successfully and happily purchased jerseys from Oregon Cyclewear but unfortunately they have a minimum order of 100 custom garments, we have however found a supplier Soigneur from New Zealand who will happily do a custom run with numbers as low as 6. We are of course happy for any other suggestions.

So a few facts, the jersey is made from Merino wool with a jacquard weave i.e. the design is actually woven into the fabric. We have been quoted a cost of about $170 NZ (£86.50) inclusive of postage. On top of this we may have to pay import duty (12%) and VAT (20%), depending how vigilant Customs and Excise are this will bring the all in cost up to around £115.00

So Gentlemen, I've opened a thread on the forum, what are your thoughts?

Marvellous work – can they provide sizes for the more portly members of the GA ? This isn't for me of course, I'm just asking the question on behalf of other members.

Evening Gentlemen,

Compliments have been passed onto Mrs Adam,

For questions regarding size, they have this chart on their site:

It does appear to be in foreign though.

Afternoon gentlemen,

My first post here. Question, the States side members have to pay VAT as well? May be ship directly from vendor and skip all the double shipping cost.

Evening all,

I nearly said 'Evening gents' but the arrival of a Swiss mamzelle makes this, I am delighted to say, even less appropriate than before (a doff of the smoking cap of the direction of Mrs Adam at this point).  As a service to members from the Commonwealth and even to those from the rebel colonies, I provide the size ranges in imperial inches below.

No facetious comments from members who claim to fall between the sizes either!  These seem to size slightly smaller than Rapha kit, so I for one will probably plump for XXL for the fuller figure falling slightly short of portly…

Re horizontal stripes:  I believe that the latest research shows that horizontal stripes are slimming and vertical ones are otherwise.  Anybody who had the pleasure of passing through the Amerada Hess Limited accounts dept in the early 90's will know what I mean.  But I digress…

This post is sponsored (unwittingly) by Brewdog beers.

Good Evening,

I could certainly ask.

The £GB price is hopefully the worst possible scenario, Soigneur have indicated that they will under value the package for tax reasons. It's not my intention to make any profit from this venture so any savings will be passed back to anyone that places an order.

Adam

It looks rather splendid. Is there an option of a long sleeved version? It gets a bit chilly up here in North Yorkshire…

KK old chap, I'd just wear a black long sleeve mid/base layer under the short sleave Jersey, that way you have maximum flexibilty… ?

Mid/base layer?  (checks dictionary definition…)  Ah you mean a vest!  I think there may be a long sleeved black garment of that ilk lurking in a drawer somewhere….   KK

Looking very nice indeed. I'll have to wait a little while before I can invest in one though.
