I cycled through there last week and it was almost as quiet. Nice ride from there to Bucklers Hard.

Good evening , ladies & Gentlemen  ,

This looks to be a good outing , there is many a fine public house in the Forrest

It will be good to have a leisurely cycle around the woods as the last two times were a tad rushed  .

Tis like the Memsahibs back garden as she grew up in West Wellow  a mere stones throw from Canada Common .

 Regards

  Fos

As Mr Fossil notes, there are many inviting hostelries in the New Forest. But beware, very few serve quality ale. Those which appear in the 2013 Good Beer Guide are here:

The Royal Oak, Fritham

The Oak, Bank

Red Shoot Inn, Linwood

Rose & Crown, Brockenhurst

Hare & Hounds, Sway

Turfcutters Arms, East Boldre

I've only been to the first two and they are both excellent pubs with great beer and welcome cyclists. They both serve a mean pie if required as well.

I'd hate to think of the Guvnors Assembly peloton swigging substandard ale!

Cheers!

Morse,

My sentiments entirely.  That said, I did not get round to doing and publishing the necessary research.. Well done!

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen of the GA.

Is there an itinerary for the "Swiss Roll" ie is there a starting "pub" ? ( for the traditional English fry up breakfast ), As we need to organize some accommodation close to the action ( starting point )

  Regards

Evening Gentlemen,

Swiss Bob and I have been in communication regarding the agenda. Swiss Bob being thoroughly helpful in planning routes and agendas me mainly looking wistfully into the distance thinking about "when I were a lad".

Anyway, provisionally the start point is now Lymington, with the intention of a shorter ride on the Saturday starting around lunch time and a fuller ride on the Sunday with an after-breakfast start, obviously start and finish times can be shuffled to fit in with train arrivals and departures, any of you London types arriving by train can have a lift from the station to Lymington by either myself or MGcC in his Big Pink Lorry if needed.

I don't want to divulge too many details as this is Swiss Bob's ride and as such it is only fair she gives out the details as and when she is ready.

Regards,

Adam

Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

Mrs Adam and I have confirmed our reservation at the Brintannia House for some reason the owner has seen fit to isolate us from the main building.

Regards,

Adam

Excellent, excellent news chaps and chappesses!!

And how wonderful that Mrs Adam and Mrs Fos will be of the party, too!

The Maflower, the Britannia and the Honeysuckle House are all within walking distance from each other (the longest distance being from the Mayflower to Honeysuckle House, which is probably twenty minutes by foot and 5 minutes by bike).

Herr Benno and Madame Elisabeth and myself are located at Queen Katherine Rd (just about in the middle) and if any of you have difficulties to store your bikes at your lodgings over night, we might have a solution there.

I am still thinking about the shorter route for the Saturday and will shortly discuss matters with Mr Adam. (And if anyone of you had anything particular in mind, we are obviously open for suggestions). As for the longer ride, the route is actually pretty much decided upon. (More details in the very near future, ladies and gentleman).

I am looking forward to seeing you all again, or make new acquaintances with the people I have heard so much about, but haven't had the pleasure to meeting in person yet, respectively.

kind regards AK

ladies and gentlemen, the New Forest National Park authority might soon release another cautionary warning to the local public:

«From around the second week in October, for a couple of days, the famous New Forest ponies, cattle and donkeys are joined by another group of mammals curiously moving along on two wheels..»
For the moment however, … http://www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/living-in/common-rights/pigs-in-pannage
(So remember, 'manners maketh the Guvnor owner'. Don't let road-hogs and pigs on pannage make you forget this…).
