The Holly Run

by Adam on 24, October, 2015

holly run 2015

As inevitable as a bike that Mr Dodger has serviced falling apart within ten miles the Holly Run is upon us.

After the past couple of years we thought it may make a nice little change to step out into the Shropshire countryside for a breath of fresh air. Guvnors’ Assembly Head Quarters this year is at the Crown Hotel in Nantwich.

From our base we shall sally fourth on a little escapade of high jinx and daring do, hopefully with a pleasant interlude or two on route, and of course a pub lunch at some point.

As ever, and is the Guvnor’s way, all are more than welcome. Ride off on the Saturday will be about 9:30 ante meridian (terribly sorry, short days and all that) although Sunday will be a much more civilised affair with a gentle spin a spot of lunch and away on our separate ways.

“P” is for Peloton

by Adam on 14, October, 2015

p is for peleton

A few months ago the GA were taken into a locked vault, issued with a pair of white cotton gloves and from a sealed chamber “P is for Peloton” was produced (This may not be a strictly accurate account of the event, but we have never let facts stand in the way of a good yarn).

“P” is for Peloton is the result of an idea by the word lady Suze Clemitson and after a tweet for assistance, the crayons of our very own Mark Fairhurst (The Cycling Photographer within these walls).

What is the book actually like? You cry. As you can probably deduce from the title the book as an A to Z of cycling facts and trivia that Suze has written with style that keeps a fellow’s interest and maybe even teach them a thing or two along the way.

As for the illustrations Mr Fairhurst has done a supreme job, not only managing to keep inside the lines through the entire book the images compliment Ms. Clemiton’s words perfectly with them both bouncing off each other’s subtle and in the case of Mr Fairhurst’s not always so subtle humour throughout the book.

Now, far be it for us to tell a fellow how to spend their money, but if you fancy a copy for yourself Mr Fairhurst is selling signed copies from his on-line shop “P” is for Peloton

Free Bikes and Beer (well beer anyway)

by Adam on 5, October, 2015

GBBB

It’s not everyday someone is foolish enough to invite the GA on a ride with the promise of free beer but Steve from the Great British Bike Build has gone and done exactly that.

To celebrate the opening of his Pashley dealership at 10:00 ante meridian he will be leading a little eleven mile jaunt from the shop down to Gloucestershire docks before heading back for a drink or two

For full details pop over to the shop.
