Paul Smith Designed Stamps

by Adam on 30, January, 2012

We at The Guvnors’ Assembly are rather keen on Mr Smith’s offerings, a well-dressed gentleman with a penchant for bikes, a kindred spirit if ever there was one. We will however be the first to admit that his offerings can be a little pricey in these austere times.

The more astute amongst you may have realised by now that a fairly large sporting jolly is taking place this year in our Capital, to celebrate this bash the Isle of Man Post Office, no doubt chivvied along by the fact that the island boasts a chap who apparently is fairly handy on a bicycle, have commissioned a range of stamps from Mr Smith.

Seven different events are depicted on the stamps, however it is of course (in our humble opinion) the one depicting a bicycle that makes the collection a worthwhile purchase.

The compendium is available from the Isle of Man Post Office Website starting at a very reasonable £4.92 all the way up to £50 for the Special Collectors Book. The book is also available from the Paul Smith website.

So for the price of a couple of pints of London Pride, a philatelist can avail himself of a little artwork from a quintessential British designer.

Do these artist types only draw single speeds because Sturmey Archer & derailer’s are tricky to draw ?

Any way to disrespect the Royals legally is fine by me……
